My Plans & Poll Results

You may view the original poll here.

First, I’d just like to thank everyone who participated in the previous poll. It’s been a couple weeks, okay well, more like four, but who’s counting? Before I discuss my plans, why don’t we take a look at the poll results?

The one story which really surprised me was that Appetite for Seduction, the Hunger Pangs sequel, seemed so popular, but I given that I received two messages about it after the previous poll perhaps it shouldn’t. The big disappointment for me was that there seemed to be so little interest in Legend of Morgana, but that’s why I did this so that I could get a better idea of what people wanted to read. I know, I know, write for yourself, but part of the reason I write is because I want to share what I’m creating with others. Why write something if no one wants to read it?

What then does that mean for my plans?

I still intend to write Legend of Morgana, but it’s been pushed down on my list of priorities. The clear favorite was A Rock & A Hard Place¬†and that is what holds the most interest at the moment. I’ve already written the first 1000 words, and I believe I have a good foundation to get me started. At the moment, I’m mainly focused on finishing Virtually Twisted, but once I’m finished with that I plan to begin serious work on A Rock & A Hard Place and continue with Legacy of Earth. I plan to write a minimum of 1000 words a week of the former and spend the rest of my time each week on the latter.

I think that should about do it, as always thank you for reading and be sure to have a delightfully demented day,

Daniel A. Wolfe

P.S. I plan to post the first part of the Virtually Twisted next week so please be on the look out for that.

Gauging Interest (Another Poll)

Let’s kick things off with a bit of an update. For quite a while I’ve been having trouble tackling a particular part of Legacy of Earth and it put writing at a stand still, but after letting it sit for a while I’ve found my way through that part of the story and things look to be going well.

As far as the Virtually Twisted rewrite goes, I’ve done some work on that too, but I doubt I will finish it before serialization begins. That being said, I have more than 31,000 words written so I’ll have a sizeable backlog of parts for the weekly serial.

I am currently making final edits to Psyren’s Redemption and will post the full version on BigCloset Topshelf, Fictionmania, and TGStorytime when it is complete.

Now, that that bit of business is out of the way I’d like to gauge interest in some ideas. I know I’ve done this once before, but a new story and a couple of old ones to add to the list. One of these will be the weekly serial after Virtually Twisted. I may or may not begin posting the second story some time while Virtually Twisted is still being posted.

Legend of Morgana: Revenge of a Spellbinder (Ragnarok Rising Prequel)

Basically, this would be the origin story of Morgana le Fey, the ancestor of Bryn , Athilda & Aryanna in the Ragnarok Rising series who is based off of a figure in Arthurian legend. It would detail her quest for vengeance against an evil tyrant and her journey from simple village boy to powerful Sorceress. This story is one which I’ve had on the back-burner for a long time, and as such it is one of the more developed ideas. Ambrosius Aurelianus (One of the possible inspirations for King Arthur) and Myrddin Wyllt (the inspiration for Merlin) will be featured heavily as the antagonists of this tale. This story would weave Authurian legend with Norse mythology and elements of English folklore.

The Fall and Rise of Kruhl

This would be the second story or third story in my Exemplar Universe (see below), set some time after the events of Psyren’s Redemption and would be loosely connected to the previous story in much the same way as Iron Man and Thor are connected in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I want to include both Sapphira and Amelia in this story, but have yet to decide how prevalent their roles will be. At the very least, they will have a small cameo, but I suspect their role will be greater than that. As far as the story goes, the protagonist Kruhl, will be an aging barbarian warrior who was once a hero among his people, but after defeating a wicked sorcerer, rose to power as the new leader and became a tyrant. He is overthrown, and cast out of his realm by those he once ruled over. When he awakens, he is on Earth, and transformed into a young college-aged woman of diminutive stature, what is seen as the ultimate insult to someone who once prided himself on his strength and virility. His sword, the source of his powers, is also inadvertently sent to Earth, but through the interference of AEGIS it is separated from him. As he struggles with his new gender, severely weakened body and his new found attraction to men, he seeks to retrieve the sword and to find a way to return home so that he may seek vengeance against those who deposed him. Unfortunately, he but finds himself hindered by the efforts of a villain, who also seeks the power of the sword for her own selfish reasons.

Untitled Exemplar Story

Set in the Exemplar Universe like the above tale, this one could either be the second or third story (see above). Of all the stories here, this one has seen very little development, but I have the basic foundations for a story. It just needs to be fleshed out more. A father of terminally ill girl, is approached by a representative of a corporation that claims it is able to cure his daughter, using experimental nanite therapy, but there’s a catch. They want him, in turn to participate in a trial for a radical nanite treatment. Unfortunately, the treatment is designed to completely transform him into a woman. He reluctantly agrees, and is transformed in ways he hadn’t expected and given super powers. Unfortunately, the corporation isn’t exactly on the level and he soon discovers that the supposed unintended side effects of his change were very intentional and that the company aims to do some very shady things with the nanite technology. The company tries to exterminate him, but he escapes and he soon discovers that he is wanted by the authorities. The rest of the story is a race against time as he attempts to expose the company, clear his name and save his daughter from the clutches of the corporation. Again, Sapphira and Amelia will probably make an appearance in this story, but the extent of their involvement is up in the air.

A Rock and A Hard Place: A Twisted Tale

Another story, I’ve wanted to write for a long time, this one, like Virtually Twisted, is set in Morpheus’s Twisted Universe. Despite this, I have not given anything close to the same amount of consideration I have for the Ragnarok Rising prequel. The story would involve the college-aged protagonist getting transformed into a girl and developing an obsession with eighties era rock music or possibly metal music and a desire to learn how to produce that type of music. One possible means through which this might happen is that the protagonist is stranded naked near a lake, through a juvenile prank and finds a shirt with a rock music motif unfortunately it happens to be a women’s shirt. When he undergoes his twist, he will face the usual bigotry and vitriol, but I want to write a tale where the protagonist finds acceptance within his community through the help of sympathetic friends and is able to show his worth to the larger community by proving that ‘she’ isn’t a danger to anyone. I doubt this would feature any cameos from any other characters in this universe, mine or otherwise, largely because it would be set in a separate town from the others and would not directly involve the town of Spiral.

Of Princes & Princesses (Novel/Novella length extended version of original flash fiction)

This story is probably one of the oldest ideas I have for a TG tale. It predates Virtually Twisted by several years. I actually began writing a version of it years ago, but I can’t seem to find the original file and believe it may have been deleted. Basically, it would follow the premise of the flash fiction piece, and would begin with two monarchies negotiating a treaty after being at war for many years. When the peace talks begin to break down, Ravan the Prince of one of the nations collapses and transforms into a woman. It is hailed the will of the gods and the new princess is set to be married to her counterpart in the other kingdom, but all is not what it seems. Ravan has made a dark pact and she will stop at nothing to gain control of both nations.

People begin to disappear, but no one suspects that it could be Ravan. She is changed since her transformation, where once she was bloodthirsty and arrogant, she seems to have become the exact opposite, submissive and gentle, but under the surface she is full of as much malice and hatred as she had before. As she carries out the will of her new mistress, she manipulates, lies to and seduces whoever stands in her way. This story would contain multiple male to female transformations and would be the darkest in theme of any of my stories to date. This story would put me outside my comfort zone which is why I never completed it and why I never started it back up again. So why then is it in this poll?  No matter how hard I try it just keeps popping back into my head. Even writing the flash fiction version did not keep it at bay.

Untitled Body Swap Tale

This story idea is the newest on the list and is quite different than the others. It would focus on the victim of a forced bodyswap, a former young woman who worked as a secretary to high-powered executive. Pretty, vain, and not particularly bright, this girl finds that her body has been stolen by the creepy office janitor. Worse yet, he seems to know everything about her and has managed to fool all her friends and family.

She searches to find a way to swap back, but, much to her dismay, the former janitor in her body goes and gets himself killed. Now she has no choice, but to live out the rest of her life in his dumpy little body. At first, she sinks into a deep depression, but then she meets a witch who offers her a chance to change events and right what has been done to her. There’s just one problem she’s fallen in love with her.

Appetite For Seduction (Sequel to Hunger Pangs)

This is a story I started writing, but abandoned after losing interest. I’m a little bit surprised, but I’ve actually had a few people approach me about this project so I thought I’d see if there’s any interest in it. Set in the DarkRealms Universe, this story would follow the Succubus Rachel and her Werebear boyfriend. After they defeated the Tenebris Petentibus, Rachel must balance college life, babysitting Tammy a fellow succubus with a child-like mind, her Sister Selina, her boyfriend Daniel, keep a close eye on ‘Stacy’, the succubus who formerly led the forces of the Tenebris Petentibus as Colonel Albert Steagab, and still somehow find time to feed.

As she plays out her little juggling act, things take a new turn as a newly awakened succubus arrives in town, injured and feeding on the sexual energies of many different victims. Rachel must find her before she exposes them to the normals living in town. Unfortunately, she soon finds herself distracted by a handsome stranger. Though she loves her boyfriend dearly she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him. What new trouble does this newcomer pose and why can’t she keep him out of her head?

Please let me know what you think. I’m doing it a bit differently this time around. Instead of having you vote on one story, I’m doing each one on a scale of 0 to 5. Zero obviously means you would never read it and 5 means you want to read it the most. Please ensure to fill out all fields as you cannot complete the survey without selecting them.

EDIT: Voting has ended view poll results below.

Thank you and have a delightfully demented day,

The New, the Upcoming & the Poll

The New…

Well, now that I’ve worked out the kinks on this new site theme it’s finally time for an update.

First, let’s talk about the new snazzy site layout. I used the ‘Seashell’ theme by Meks and made significant alterations of my own. The appearance is the most notable change, but there are some important differences that are just a little less obvious. Rather than writing a¬† wordy blog extolling the virtues of these changes I’ll just list the new features and keep it short.

  • ‘Tags’ are now ‘themes’
  • ‘Categories’ are now ‘Categories’ (Yes, they’re different, trust me on this).
  • All Taxonomies can now be filtered on the main page as well as on Archive pages.
    • Available Taxonomies include: Books, Categories, Genres, Story Lengths, Series, Theme, Universe
  • New “Random Fact” and “Arbitrary Quote” widgets located at the bottom of the page.
  • Subscribe and Follow widgets are now located in drop down menus within the navigation bar.
  • Subscribe and Follow widgets also available in the site’s “Contact” page to ensure functionality for users with older browsers. (Seriously though, keep your browser up to date. It’s important to keep your information safe and secure.)
  • Date, author, comment, and taxonomy meta now located within Meta Boxes on the right of every post.
  • More colorful follow widget including a rainbow effect on the tgstorytime button. (Trust me I had the darnedest time making that work which is why it’s been mentioned).
  • Customizable colors on meta box (see poll at bottom of the blog)
  • Recent comments widget now located at the bottom of the page.
  • New subheader box which includes unique background images on all the main pages. With the exception of the archive, individual posts and home page which all share the same header.
  • I’ve transitioned the site to the new Gutenberg Editor which will become the defacto editor in the next major WordPress update. This won’t effect the user experience over all, and the difference will be negligible when actually viewing the site. It is, however, a big change under the hood and vastly changes how I compose my posts.

The Upcoming…

I’d like to thank everybody for participating in the previous site poll. It really helped me get a better idea of what stories people are most interested. The absolutely most popular choice was the Twisted Story, which I suppose shouldn’t surprise me given the popularity of Morpheus and his story universes. That being said, it’s between that story and the next runner up my Morgana le Fey centered Ragnarok Rising prequel. I haven’t made my final decision, yet, but I am leaning toward the Twisted story. I’ve worked out what the plot will be and the physical description of the protagonist and created cover images for both.

In addition, since I’ll be coming out with a revised version of Virtually Twisted I decided to update the cover image. Unfortunately, The images I used in the original were rather small so in order to preserve the overall look of the original cover and make a larger vision I had to make a few sacrifices. Overall I think it turned out rather good so I’m willing to live with the shortcomings of the new version.

A quick note on the cover for “Morgana”. It is not strictly speaking an original work, it’s based off a very old cover for “Norse Stories” by Hamilton Wright Mabie. It’s fallen into public domain, so there are no legal worries over using the image. As some of you recall I took a similar route with the Ragnarok Rising cover images creating images. You may view all three cover images below.¬†

See all three covers below:

With the exception of Virtually Twisted, the titles of the stories are not, strictly speaking, set in stone. They could change at some point down the line, but I’m relatively happy with them so it probably won’t happen. The title for A Rock and A Hard Place isn’t particularly original, I admit, but it does have a double meaning. The meaning of the original idiom is very applicable as is the Rock Music motif that you’ve probably picked up on.¬†

As far as actually story progress, my considerable backlog of story parts for Psyren’s Redemption, isn’t so considerable anymore. Unfortunately, my vacation, real life issues and the site redesign occupied a fair bit of my time. Have no fear, I plan to continue weekly postings. You should not notice any difference on that front.

What you should know, is that I may not be able to serialize the revised Virtually Twisted and whatever story I do finally settle on at the same time. It was never set in stone to begin with, but I feel I should give some form of notice. _If_ it does happen, I do believe that the serialization of A Rock and a Hard Place will begin some time after I’ve begun to post Virtually Twisted.

Sorry, it couldn’t be better news, but those that have been following me since my early days on tgstorytime, bigcloset topshelf and fictionmania probably aren’t very surprised by this new development.

The Poll…

One of the coolest things about the theme I’m using is the ability to customize the color of the meta boxes on each post, and, in truth, this particular feature is the main thing that initially attracted me to the theme in the first place. That being said, the more time goes on the less I’m certain that I want the site to be so colorful. I’m considering just using the default color and keeping the meta boxes all the same.

To show you what I mean and for those that desire a visual aid, please refer to the images below (they’re from my test site):

So taking the images above into account, what do you think?

Thank you for reading and participating, and don’t forget to have a delightfully demented day,

Daniel A. Wolfe.

Gauging Interest (A Poll)

First off, I want to state that Legacy of Earth will still remain a priority. I have been keeping quiet on the development of the story as of late, but it is something I very much want to get finished. There have been some recent set backs in that department due largely to my dissatisfaction in the way a certain part of the story turned out, but I do see some hope on the horizon. I will continue working on it behind the scenes, until I’m satisfied it is ready to see the light of day.

That being said I have something of a backlog with Psyren’s redemption and as such I’m getting relatively close to writing the end of the story. I’ve already written parts of the ending and the epilogue, but they will need to see significant revisions and expansion. With the story getting so near to a close, I’ve been thinking about my next undertaking.

I’ve mentioned in the past, that I started a rewrite of Virtually Twisted, and it sat there collecting dust on my hard drive for quite a while. I recently opened up the file and took a look at it. I’ve since done some editing mainly grammatical and a few other tweaks. What surprised me the most was how near the story was to completion. So, I’ve decided after Psyren’s Redemption’s final chapters I will polish off the new version of Virtually Twisted. That being said, I’m a bit conflicted on what I should write after Virtually Twisted is complete, like Psyren’s Redemption I will serialize it, but if I can complete it and begin another story, I believe I may be able to get a good start on the new tale and serialize it alongside the revised Virtually Twisted. That’s right, two weekly serials at the same time!

So, on to the primary reason for this blog post. I have several stories on the old back burner, but I can’t quite decide which of them I should tackle. I’m going to list them here with a brief synopsis of each and then I’m going to ask you folks which of these stories most piques your interest.

Ragnarok Rising Prequel

Basically, this would be the origin story of Morgana le Fey, the ancestor of Bryn , Athilda & Aryanna in the Ragnarok Rising series who is based off of a figure in Arthurian legend. It would detail her quest for vengeance against an evil tyrant and her journey from simple village boy to powerful Sorceress. The title is something I’ve yet to come up with, but it will more than likely follow the same naming convention as the previous stories.

Untitled Exemplar Story

Set in the Exemplar Universe like the above tale, this one could either be the second or third story (see above). Of all the stories here, this one has seen very little development, but I have the basic foundations for a story it just needs to be fleshed out more. Again, Sapphira and Amelia will probably make an appearance in this story, but the extent of their involvement is up in the air.

Untitled Twisted Tale

Another story, I’ve wanted to write for a long time, this one, like Virtually Twisted, is set in Morpheus’s twisted Universe. Despite this, I have not given anything close to the same amount of consideration I have for the Ragnarok Rising prequel. The details of the story aren’t resolved yet, largely because I need to clear certain aspects with the Dreamer himself, but the story would involve the protagonist getting transformed into a girl and developing an obsession with eighties era rock music or possibly metal music and a desire to learn how to produce that type of music. One possible means through which this might happen is that the protagonist is stranded naked near a lake, through a juvenile prank and finds a shirt with a rock music motif unfortunately it happens to be a women’s shirt. I doubt this would feature any cameos from any other characters in this universe, mine or otherwise, largely because it would be set in a separate town from the others and would not directly involve the town of Spiral.

I’m curious to see what you think I should write. Keep in mind that these story ideas are subject to change¬†and¬†I may or may not pick the top choice for my next project. This poll is intended to gauge interest only, certainly I will be take the results into consideration, but it will not be the only criteria through which I will pick my next project. Please, vote below.

Polls about the future of this site.

To celebrate Star Wars days I thought I’d do something that has absolutely nothing to do with May the Fourth. Ha, and you thought this was gonna be star wars themed. I know, I know, I’m just so rude. Well, to get to the point, I’ve been thinking long and hard about what sort of exclusive content I’d bring to my website and you know what? I can’t freaking decide. So, in the hopes that opinion of my readers might finally push me into making a decision, I thought I’d create a poll and see what everyone thinks.

Before you vote please read what I have to say next, very carefully. The options in the first poll are all mutually exclusive. In other words, I will only be doing one of them. The second poll, however is one possibility that could happen in conjunction of any of the three or without any of them ever coming into fruition. Please answer both polls honestly.

There are six poll options, and I’ll break them down so that you can get a better idea of just what exactly you are voting on.

1. How about a weekly serial?

This option is exactly what it sound like, but be aware if I choose this option. It will be in very small chunks, perhaps 500-1000 words and the story would not be Legacy of Earth or any of my ‘big’ projects. It would be something like my super hero tale Psyren’s redemption or a rewrite of Virtually Twisted. These would be raw unedited versions of the story, so there’s that to consider as well.

Just to be clear any stories I post as a serial would eventually find their way to other sites, once they were completed some time in the future. And whatever I do post here would be subject to revisions after they have been posted here and up to the time they are posted on another site.

2. I’d really like to see some more flash fiction.

Again, this is exactly what it sounds like short little stories. For those that are unfamiliar with the format, this would mean short 500 word or so stories which I would post on a weekly basis. Some might be set in various universes I’ve create and some would be standalones.

In a similar matter to the weekly serial any flash fiction I wrote here, would likely be added to a collection and posted on other sites after I felt I had enough to warrant postings.

3. I’d like to see you do some captions, DAW.

This one could theoretically see more than one posting a weak, but I have mixed feelings about this one because I worry about the legal repercussions of using other people’s images in captions. I know many captioners use other’s pictures without permission, but that’s not to say that they may not eventually face legal action in doing so. If I did this, I’d want to do so with images registered under a creative commons license or other similar licenses, but that does severely limit the sort of and number of images at my disposal.

If I did this, these images would probably find their way on to my deviantart account after a set amount of time like a week or two or maybe even a month.

4.Some combination of the above three.

This one has a big caveat, so please be sure to read this. If I were to do some combination of those three options, it wouldn’t mean you’d see all three every week, it would mean one of those three per week. One week I might do a few captions, the next a piece of flash fiction, the week after that, I could make a post from the serial. It would be an exceptionally rare event to see even two of those happen in any given week.

5/6. None of the above.

7/8/9/etc. Make your own suggestion.
[democracy id=”2″]

Now for poll number two. It’s pretty much self explanatory, so I’ll just let you have at it.

[democracy id=”3″]

I look forward to seeing people’s answer and I do hope that you will comment below and give me your thoughts. May everyone have a delightfully demented fourth,
