Months in the Making: Silfra & Hamari

After months of work, I finally finished this illustration of Silfra and Hamari from Fractured Rune.

This piece fought me from beginning to end.

There were revisions. There were moments where I questioned every artistic decision I’d made. There was also one particularly memorable incident where I lost an entire day’s worth of progress and had to redo it from scratch. That was… an experience.

For a while, I actually set the piece aside. Sometimes when a project refuses to cooperate, the best thing you can do is walk away and come back with fresh eyes.

Eventually, I did.

Despite all the frustration, I’m incredibly happy with how it turned out. The final piece captures something I love about these characters and about Fractured Rune as a whole.

The world of the novel is full of chaos, conflict, reality-altering storms, ancient secrets, and people trying to survive forces much larger than themselves. But at its heart, it’s also a story about connection.

Sometimes, even when the world is breaking apart, people still find each other.

If you’d like to learn more about them, Fractured Rune is available now.
