I just thought I’d mention here that I finished the first draft of Legacy of Earth: Genesis, the second part in the series. I will be looking for an alpha-reader sometime in the next few days just to make sure I haven’t miss-fired. I will likely approach the usual candidates, but I would be open to other individuals if they could prove they are able to provide constructive criticism.
For those that are interested in figures and numbers and all the fun stuff that goes with that the following is for you. Currently, the total word count runs at about 97,000 words. The first part, Birthright, is right around 52,000 words and the second, Genesis is right around 45,000 words. Those lengths will change once it gets some more polishing and editing as there are some scenes I want to add and expand upon. The fight scenes in part two, in particular feel a little rushed. Beyond that I am not planning any significant changes. My overall goal is 200,000 words for the whole story and the goal for each part is 50,000 words. I didn’t quite reach that goal for part two, but I ended it in a different place than I originally intended as I felt the cliffhanger made for an exceptionally good stopping point. The overall story will be at least four parts, but, like the Battle For Earth, it could end up being longer.
Also, as many of you noticed I added a Book progress widget a few weeks ago on the right sidebar. It lists all progress in percentages, but given the figures I just listed, I think, most people can do the math.
Everyone have a delightfully demented day,
